Why did you choose to work in the field of SpLD?
I believe everyone has some abilities despite his/her disabilities. I hope to help bring out these abilities, polish them so that they could radiate. And through these process, I hope these individuals would know themselves better, would be more confident.
What is one thing that never fails to make you smile in the work that you do?
The stakeholders are receptive to my suggestions and render the necessary suggested support. After a period of evidence-based intervention, the children acquire significant gains in the targeted skills and the people around them recognise their improvement. These children become more motivated and want to learn further skills.
What do you think is the most important quality/value/belief a person must have when working in the field of Special Education?
The belief that all things are possible when the expectation is reasonable, when using the right approach and when given adequate time.
What is the one thing you would do to improve special education in your country?
I would read more, be at the forefront to share, to tell and to do, and to give my time and resources.
What motivated you to become a RETA member and how has it benefitted you?
To be recognised as a certified Educational Therapist by a reputable organisation. To be able to attend the RETA sharing sessions and to gain insights from the sharing.
What advice would you give someone who has special educational needs or lives/works with people with special educational needs?
Everyone has his/her abilities and could contribute to the betterment of the society.
