Why was RETA Formed?
As awareness is heightened throughout Asia and the world on the needs of individuals with specific learning differences (SpLD), greater support is vital to facilitate them in their learning journey.
Singapore has essentially developed into an important educational hub for supporting such individuals. Over the years, a rising number of students with SpLD are being taught and supported by various organisations which include the Ministry of Education, voluntary sectors and even private institutions.
Arguably, more students with specific learning differences receive support in Singapore and the region than anywhere else in the world. In view of this encouraging development, it is timely and essential that support providers such as teachers, educational therapists and allied professionals come together to form a Register to encourage high professional practice and application of research into practice.
And so, we present the Register of Educational Therapists (Asia), affectionately known as RETA.
