Presenter:

Jessica Liu
Educational Therapist, Dyslexia Association of Singapore
RETA Member

Jessica holds the Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (CTCSOL). She has been a teaching assistant and a relief teacher at the Canadian International School since 2021 where she works with the Chinese-English Bilingual (CEB) programme. She is well experienced in one-to-one, small group and big class teaching, especially for students who have learning difficulties and behavioural issues.

Jessica joined the Dyslexia Association in June 2021. She is an Educational Therapist of Chinese language and a member of the Register of Educational Therapists (Asia) (RETA). She provides intervention for learners with Dyslexia and other specific learning differences in the Chinese programme at primary & secondary school levels. As an Educational Therapist, Jessica’s experience comes from teaching foreigners Chinese as a second language. She has a keen interest in developing a tailored curriculum that will address the needs of each
individual learner. Jessica always encourages and motivates students to learn in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

As a language educator, she understands that language and culture influence each other – Our thinking is shown in the language we use, and the language we use shapes our way of thinking. Hence, she uses a variety of teaching methods. For example using Chinese Calligraphy to foster students’s interest in order to achieve a better learning result!
