Synopsis:
This webinar will delve into the world of assistive technology (AT) and its transformative impact on students with writing and handwriting difficulties.
Participants will learn about a variety of AT tools, including voice-to-text typing and touchtyping, and discover how to effectively integrate these tools into writing instruction and therapy sessions.
The webinar will also provide practical tips for parents to support their child’s writing development at home. By the end of this session, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and resources to empower struggling writers and help them achieve success.
Participants will learn about:
- Various assistive technology tools that can support students with handwriting and writing difficulties.
- Strategies to address common challenges in writing skills development and how to maximize the benefits of AT.
- How to effectively integrate AT into writing instruction and therapy sessions.
- AT accomodations and access arrangements (AA) available to students at schools and national exams
- For Parents: Practical tips on how to support their child's writing development with AT at home.
Presenter:
Sarah Lee-Wong has more than 25 years in education with therapy and coaching expertise to empower neurodivergent individuals, families and educators to thrive and flourish. She enjoys working with individuals across the age spectrum and who may have complex neuroprofiles of learning and behavioural differences including, but not limited to ASD, ADHD, Specific Learning Disorder in Reading Impairment (Dyslexia) and Written Expression (Dysgraphia),Developmental Co-ordination Disorder (DCD/ Dyspraxia) as well as Twice Exceptionality (2E).
To ensure that every individual is supported holistically, Sarah adopts a strengths-based, values-centric approach in crafting comprehensive learning and developmental plans in collaboration with the client, family and other clinical professionals. As a multidisciplinarian, she is also able to incorporate methodologies from various disciplines beyond the typical academics such as invention education, sports and the arts to cultivate curiosity, nurture critical and creative thinking, build emotional agility and mental fitness.
As a community activist, Sarah champions self-advocacy, public awareness and accessibility to inclusive learning opportunities. She leads the Anything DYStinctive Community as a social support and resource sharing group on WhatsApp and as a LearnX Community with the National Library Board (NLB) Singapore.
